- Graduated in 1977 from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas, with a specialization in criminal procedure from the Italian Universities of Milano (1979/1980) and Pavia (1980/1981).
- Master in Procedural Law (1986) and Doctor in Law (2000) from the Universidade de São Paulo.
- Professor of Criminal Procedural Law at the Faculdade de Direito of USP since 1987 in undergraduate, master’s and doctoral courses.
- Professor in the master’s course in Civil Procedural Law at PUCC (2001/2004), in the master’s course in Criminal Procedural Law at UNIP (1999 to 2007), and in the undergraduate course at Faculdade Padre Anchieta (1984/1985).
